Hi, my name is Andrew Heins. About 5 years ago, I realized I wanted to spend my life building stuff and writing code for the web. I had a degree in Media, an entry-level sales position and some terrible HTML skills. Today I manage and write code for web projects.
I love working on the web. I don’t have “off hours”. I think about the web all day for my day job, and then go home and work on personal projects, or do freelance development. If I’m not actively engaged in something, you can probably bet that I’m thinking about code.
I have a voracious appetite for learning about the web. I’m completely self-taught as a web developer, and I devour books, articles and course material with abandon. Every single day I’m learning, and I don’t think that’ll ever change.
I like to think big. I like to plan. I like to get caught up in other peoples’ passion and enthusiasm. I’m supernaturally attracted to markers and clean white surfaces. I thrive in small, informal teams of amped-up, dedicated nerds.
Skills
- Valid and Maintainable XHTML and HTML5
- CSS 2.1/3
- Javascript, with jQuery as my framework of choice
- PHP and WordPress Development
- Ruby and Rails Enthusiast
- Git/GitHub
Modus Operandi
My editor of choice is Vim. I use Test-Driven Development. I make small, incremental commits to Git. I keep all my stuff on Dropbox. I’ve never written a piece of code that I liked a week later. I doodle when I need a break. I drink unhealthy amounts of coffee. I practice Tae Kwon Do on weeknights. I’m competitive, and foster that in others.
